Dear Parents
Welcome Back
Happy New Year! The children returned last week, full of energy and excitement for the Spring term ahead. With all clubs and activities starting this week, there is something for every child to enjoy, from Spanish Club to Mad Science! We also have our wonderful production of Peter Pan to look forward to at the Landmark performance venue, which the children are already working hard towards. This term is even more exciting, with our brand-new Nursery and Preschool building now open! We have been delighted to welcome lots of new families into our community, with new children joining us in our Nursery and School. We know everyone is going to have a wonderful term ahead!
Nursery and Preschool Building Opening
Prospective Parent Session 2pm-4.30pm
On Friday 31st January, there is an exciting opportunity for prospective parents to explore our brand-new Nursery and Preschool facilities. We would greatly appreciate it if you would pass the date on to any friends, family, colleagues or neighbours who may be interested. If they cannot make that date, they are welcome to contact the office and book a tour on another weekday. As always, thank you for your ongoing support.
Alumni and Former Staff Session 5.30pm – 7.30pm
During the evening session, Alumni, Parents and Staff (past and present) will all be able to view our Nursery. The evening will feature a selection of photographs showcasing Highfield’s rich history, as well as performances from both past and present pupils. It will serve as a great opportunity to reconnect with your former classmates and teachers. A light buffet and drinks will be served to accompany this enjoyable evening. You may arrive anytime during the session, and we welcome you to invite as many former pupils as possible. We look forward to seeing you there!
Early Years
With lots of new children joining us in Nursery, we have been having lots of fun and making new friends! We have been building magnetic structures and watching the light shine through them, creating lots of magical patterns. As well as enjoying the fresh air in Forest School, we have loved being creative with movement in our dance class with Miss Burns! We are very excited about all the fun we are going to have this term!
PTA
The PTA have a few events planned this term. We will be running a Mother’s Day shop as well as the annual Easter Egg raffle later in the term. This half term, we are planning a family bingo night on Friday 7th February, watch out for details coming soon! Our next meeting is on Thursday 30th January at 8.15am in the dining room. Please come along and join us!
Sports
Netball V Sedbergh
With Khadijah and Zaynah leading the teams as Captain, Highfield held strong against a talented Sedbergh team. The match was intense, with end-to-end play in both matches. Aryana and Mohini were players of the match in each game, and we left Sedbergh triumphant in our victory!

Hockey V Sedbergh
Wednesday saw our Year 5 & 6 girls travel to Sedbergh for the first hockey fixture of the season. The girls were very excited and, after a great warm up, they were ready to go. They started off with some great passing between the defence and midfield, and they defended well against an experienced Sedbergh team. Just before half time, Sedbergh unfortunately managed to sneak in a goal, however, this didn’t deter the Highfield girls as they continued to battle hard. Sedbergh scored a couple more goals before Highfield started to pressure their defence with some fantastic team play which led to a well-deserved Highfield goal. Well done to Isabella who remained calm and powered the ball past the Sedbergh goalkeeper. Well done to all the girls in their first match of the season; we are already looking forward to the next one!
