Dear Parents
The Barn Opening and Alumni Event
It was lovely to see so many of the Highfield Priory family joining us last Friday for the grand opening of 'The Barn' - our new Nursery and Preschool building. Pupils, parents, alumni, staff and special guests joined us for what was a fantastic celebration of the Highfield school spirit and an exciting glimpse into the future learning environment of our youngest pupils. We would like to offer a special vote of thanks to the Lord-Lieutenant of Lancashire for officially opening The Barn, and everyone who made this such a successful event; it was an afternoon that will live long in our school's memory!
Year 4’s Production of Peter Pan
On Wednesday evening, our talented children took Crossgate Church by storm with their performance of Peter Pan. Our young performers exuded confidence as they told their story through dance and drama. In front of a large audience, bright lights and loud music, they showed no fear and thoroughly enjoyed their moment on stage. Miss Burns’ dancers elegantly showed off the skills they have learnt in their dance lessons this year. Our Year 4 actors commanded the stage, delivering their lines with poise and confidence. All the children thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience, from practising at home with family, rehearsals in school, fun filled rehearsals at the venue and the final performance. It will be a memory that they will cherish for many years to come. Congratulations to everyone who took part and thank you to our directors, Mrs Jones and Miss Burns, and all the staff at Crossgate Church and Highfield Priory who helped to make this show such a success. What a team!
Preschool
It's been lots of fun making the most of Highfield's forest environment in Preschool so far this term! From arts and crafts, to cooking and creating, we have been utilising all the natural resources that Highfield Haven has to offer. As the days grow longer and the weather brightens, we can't wait to enjoy even more woodland adventures!
World Book Day Mastermind
Many congratulations to Amelie, Aryana, Lilia, William and Yusra who are this year's finalists in our Year 6 Mastermind competition. They will be competing in the final on World Book Day (Thursday 6th March).
Sports
Y5 and Y3&4 ISA Football Tournaments
It has been a busy couple of weeks for our footballers. Our Year 5 team won two games and drew one, showing real determination to the end of each match, finishing mid-table. Our Year 3&4 players won two and drew one game, in very cold conditions, and lost narrowly in the semi-final after extra time. It was a great opportunity for all the boys and it gave them a positive experience to build on as they move forward to their next fixtures.
Rugby V SMH
All of our Year 5 and Year 6 Boys travelled to SMH to play in very boggy conditions. A few players lost their boots before the game even started! The boys worked really hard, never giving-up and improving throughout both games, setting up a series of good plays, many of which led to tries. They showed real resilience and team spirit -well done!
ISA Netball Tournament
Two teams travelled to Sedbergh Prep for the annual Netball tournament. Our maroon team played 6 matches, securing victories in 4 of them, resulting in a position of third. Our blue team also won lots of matches, scoring lots of goals. These incredible results meant that Highfield won this section and the tournament overall. Well done to all the girls who played and thank you to the parents who came to support.
