Our School
Highfield Priory is an Independent Co-educational Day School for children from the age of two to eleven years. The school is a real haven of tranquillity amidst the hustle and bustle of the busy city. We enjoy nine acres of grounds containing our outdoor classroom, sports pitches and specialist subject classrooms. The wealth of opportunity open to our pupils encourages an active mind, an active body and a true desire to aim high in all that they do in life.
We are very proud of our reputation as the top Independent Preparatory School in Lancashire and the North.
Our Nursery
We welcome children from two to four years of age into our cosy home from home. Our Nursery and Preschool both enjoy our brand new, purpose-built ‘Barn’. This allows for smooth transitions throughout their Early Years, ensuring your child remains settled throughout their time at Highfield Priory.
Opened in January 2025, The Barn contains two large playrooms and a messy room, as well as a new outdoor area. The Barn also provides a customised sleeping facility for nap time, and a wet room for the children to use after their muddy forest school sessions.

The school runs from age two in Nursery until age eleven at the end of Year Six, when they move onto their chosen secondary school. Children can join at any point in the year, following a tour and a taster day, if places are available.

We warmly invite you to book a personal tour of the school during a normal school day. This gives you the opportunity to see our pupils learning, explore our facilities, and experience the supportive and inspiring environment we provide. Tours are arranged at a time to suit you and are typically led by the Headmaster, allowing you to ask questions and gain a deeper insight into life at the school.
Alternatively, you can join us at one of our upcoming Open Days. These events are a fantastic way to explore the school with our enthusiastic Year 5 and Year 6 pupils, who proudly guide visitors around our facilities. You will also have the chance to meet our staff, speak with current pupils, and discover more about our nursery and wider school community.
We host several Open Days throughout the year, making it easy for families from Preston and across Lancashire to visit and experience Highfield Priory first-hand.
